Healing of foot wound
I was supporting a friend at The Leaves the other day, when I walked into a room and scraped my foot on the doorframe. I turned my thought away from mortal sensation toward God in prayer, seeking His guidance. The answer came: “Integrity.”
This took my thought back to a time many years ago, when I asked my Christian Science Teacher to share a healing in her life that made a big impression on her. She said her first healing was of melancholia, or a sense of depression. My teacher happened to be the great granddaughter of Gustav Mahler, the famous composer. If you’ve ever listened to any of Mahler’s symphonies, you know that it can put one through the ringer emotionally.
So how did this healing take place? Apparently, at the time, she was actually memorizing the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, so that when she died, she could “take” them with her. As she prayed, God’s answer came to her, “Sybil, you will ALWAYS have Science. And health.” These are as ever-present as God, and therefore she could never be deprived of them. She saw in that moment that Science (the Truth about God and man) is the foundation of integrity (like an integer / oneness / wholeness), which is the root of healing.
So as I stood there next to the door, I vigorously, silently affirmed “I always have Science. And I always have health.” I took special interest in seeing the connection between the Science, and integrity. I reasoned out from the absolute that my wholeness is with my Maker, and therefore cannot be interrupted.
It was comforting to know that the Christian Science nurses were all praying generally to support the floor, and I was benefiting from being in that atmosphere.
The healing itself took mere seconds. I’m so grateful to be able to share it with you.
